Preface

Islam means a mindset and a lifestyle. Islam comprises some well-defined beliefs which a person, in order to be a Muslim, must accept as true and must confirm them by his words, acts and deeds. Those beliefs are the fundamentals of Islam and the person who accepts those beliefs and moulds his /her life accordingly is a Fundamentalist Muslim. A person in order to be a Muslim worth the name must be a fundamentalist. Being born in a particular family or having a particular name or living in a particular society does not by itself make a person Muslim. If a person having a Muslim name or associated with a Muslim family or society denies any of the fundamentals of Islam expressly or impliedly he/she ceases to be a Muslim. Islam has to be consciously and conscientiously adopted and cautiously and consistently preserved by every Muslim till the last breath of his/her life. Islam waxes and wanes according to the care and uncare with which it is treated. It is therefore the duty of every person claiming to be a Muslim to endeavor constantly to preserve and promote his/her Islam and live and die as a Muslim.

This book is intended to be a handbook, a guide book, a companion book foe every Fundamentalist Muslim for the preservation and promotion of his/her Islam. The subject dealt with in this book and the references made from the Holy Quran, the holy Prophet's traditions and other sources are not exhaustive. It presents only an overview of Islamic views and ways. It is prayed to Allah the Almighty and it is hoped form His grace and bounty that this modest effort will inspire all desirous persons to learn more and more about Islamic thoughts and acts and live and die as Fundamentalist Muslims.

BEWARE!

The Holy Quran declares:

"Whoso desireth the life of the world and its pomp, We shall repay them their deeds herein, and therein they will not be wronged. Those are they for whom is naught in the Hereafter save the Fire." (11:15, 16).

" Whoso desireth that (life) which hasteneth away, We hasten for him therein that We will for whom We please. And afterward We have appointed for him Hell; he will endure the heat thereof, condemned, rejected." (17:18)

" O mankind! Lo! The promise of Allah is true. So let not the life of the world beguile you, and let not the (avowed) beguiler beguile you with regard to Allah". (35:5)

"But ye prefer the life of the world, although the Hereafter is better and more lasting." ( 87:16, 17)

Then, as for him who rebelled and chose the life of the world, Lo! Hell will be his home. But as for him who feared to stand before his Lord and restrained his soul from lust, Lo! the Garden will be his home.(79:37-40)

       Holy Prophet's supplication:

        O Allah!

Don't make the world our greatest concern, nor the goal of our education, nor our utmost longing.

INTRODUCTION TO ISLAM

ISLAM is an Arabic word. It denotes resignation, submission, surrender to the will, the service, the commands of ALLAH (GOD). In essence, ISLAM is a lifestyle. It directs, guides, controls and governs human behavior from the cradle to the grave, from dawn to dusk and from dusk to dawn. ISLAM comprises comprehensive guidelines of Do's and Don'ts for every person child or adult, male or female, young or old, irrespective of his/her country, region, race, tribe, language, colour whatever.

ISLAM encompasses the whole sphere of human activity--- secular or religious, individual or collective, personal, national or international, civil or military, physical or mental, temporal or spiritual, economic or ethical, private or public, political or commercial, domestic or mercantile, celebatic or marital, earning-related or spending-related, spoken, written or symbolic whatever.

ISLAM is a complete code defining the parameters of a person's relations with his/her parents, children, spouses, kith and kin, employers, employees, friends, foes, neighbors, the rich, the poor, the needy, the weaker, the older, the state, the society, the animal whoever.

ISLAM controls a person's feelings, emotions, passions, thoughts, imaginations and guides him/her in matters of love, hate, grief, shock, gain, loss, pain, pleasure, anger, revenge, ambition, competition, praise, blame et all.

ISLAM has its own complete civil and criminal laws defining rights and liabilities and crime and punishment.

ISLAM is the divinely ordained one universal lifestyle for all human beings on the earth. Under the Islamic lifestyle nobody is absolutely free, either in private or in public, to behave as he or she likes. All likes and dislikes and omissions and commissions have to lie within well-defined limits. In fact, Islam is a bargain wherein a person purchases the eternal peace and pleasure of Paradise for a paltry price of the perishable and perturbed life and liberty of this world. ISLAM is the antithesis of Modernity.

ALLAH is the goal of the Islamic lifestyle. MUHAMMAD (peace be upon him) is the leader to be followed to achieve the goal. The holy book QURAN is the guidebook for the journey to the goal.

BASIS OF ISLAM

The basis of ISLAM is the belief that the existence of human beings on the earth is not the outcome of any accident but it is the part of a divine scheme under which the human race has been created with a purpose. ALLAH created the universe. He also created good and evil. He also created the human race. He appointed His messengers from time to time in each and every part of the world. The Messengers explained to the people of their time and place what was good and what was evil and exhorted them to do good and ward off evil. From Adam to Muhammad (peace be upon them) ALLAH appointed 1, 24000(one Lac twenty four thousand) messengers to explain to the human race how to live on this earth. The message of each and every messenger was Islam of its time and place. The Divine Message revealed to Muhammad (peace be upon him) through the archangel Gabriel is contained in the holy book QURAN. The divine message contained in the holy book QURAN superseded all earlier divine messages contained in other holy books. The QURAN is now the sole and only criterion of good and evil for the entire human race forever and ever till eternity. Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the final Messenger of ALLAH and the authentic reports of his words and deeds are the only guidance in all matters of life for all people for all time till eternity. True success and happiness lies in Islamic life style. All other life styles lead to eventual failure and grief.

The universal nature of the divine message contained in the holy Quran is declared in the following, besides other verses:

ALLAH bears witness that there is no god but He, and so do the angels and men of learning standing firm on justice. There is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise. The only true faith in Allah's sight is ISLAM. (3: 18-19)

He who chooses a faith other than ISLAM, it will not be accepted from him and he will be among the losers in the afterworld. (3: 85)

This (QUR'AN) is a declaration to mankind: a guide and an admonition to the righteous. (3: 138)

Wehavesentthee(OMuhammad) as an apostle to mankind. (4:79) O mankind, the apostle has brought you the truth from your Lord. Have faith and it shall be well with you. If you disbelieve, know that to Allah belongs all that the heavens and the earth contain. He is Knowing, Wise. (4:170)

O mankind you have received clear proof from your Lord. We have sent forth to you a glorious light. Those that believe in ALLAH and hold fast to Him shall be admitted to his mercy and his grace; He will guide them to Him along a straight path. (4: 174-75)

Say (O Muhammad): O mankind Lo! I am the messenger of ALLAH to you all. (7:158)

O mankind! An admonition has come to you from your Lord, a healing for what is in the hearts, a guide and blessing to true believers. (10:57)

Say (O Muhammad): O mankind! The truth has come to you from your Lord. He that follows the right path follows it to his own advantage, and he that goes astray does so at his own peril. (10:109)

It (QUR'AN) is a reminder to all mankind. (12:104)

We have revealed to you (Muhammad) this book (QUR'AN) so that, by the will of the Lord, you may lead mankind from darkness to light; to the path of the Mighty, Glorious One: the path of ALLAH to whom belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. (14:1)

This (QUR'AN) is a clear message to mankind. Let them heed thereby, and know that ALLAH is One God. Let the wise bear this in mind. (14:52)

And We revealed to you (Muhammad) the Reminder (QUR'AN) so that you may make clear to mankind what has been revealed to them, and that they may give thought. (16:44)

Blessed be He Who has revealed the criterion (of right and wrong) to His slave, that he may be a Warner to all mankind. (25:1)

(O Muhammad)! We have sent you forth to all mankind, so that you may give them good news and warm them. But most men have no knowledge. (34:28)

This (QUR'AN) is an admonition to all mankind. (38:88)

To ALLAH alone is true obedience due. (39:3)

We have revealed to you (Muhammad) the book in truth for (the instruction of) mankind. He that follows the right path shall follow it to his own advantage; and he that goes astray shall do so at his own peril. (39:41)

PRE-REQUISITE OF ISLAM: IMAN

The essence of ISLAM is IMAN (FAITH). Iman is the belief of the heart i.e. intellectual conviction and assent that everything Muhammad (Peace be upon him) taught and conveyed was true, is true and shall for ever remain true. He who has Iman is called Mumin (Faithful). In order to be a Muslim (follower of Islam) one has to be a Mumin. To follow Islam without Iman is hypocrisy and has no worth in Allah's sight.
   go to top

FUNDAMENTALS OF IMAN (FAITH)

Every Mumin (Faithful) must be firmly and fully convinced of the truth of the following beliefs:

     1. BELIEF IN ALLAH (GOD):

Important aspects of this belief are:

ALLAH is the Owner of sovereignty. The sovereignty of every monarch, president, any individual or body of individuals, parliament or the people as a whole must play a subservient role to Allah's sovereignty. The Laws revealed by ALLAH to Muhammad (Peace be upon him) for the mankind are supreme and binding on all and any law made in derogation to those Laws is null and void.

ALLAH is One He alone is to be worshipped. He has no mother, no father, no wife, no son, no daughter, and no relation whatever. He is Omniscient, Omnipotent. He is not dependent on anybody, anything. Everything, everybody is dependent on Him. He

created the entire universe and everything in it. He is the Lord of all creations. He gives life and causes death. He gives provisions to all creatures. He neither eats, nor drinks nor sleeps. He has no beginning, no end. He is not a substance, not an element, not a body. He is not inherent in a body or dwelling in a place. He has no hands, legs, eyes, ears, nose, mouth etc. He does not take the shape or form of anybody or thing. He sees everything, hears everything, and knows everything. He has power over everything. He does what he likes etc. etc.

     2. BELIEF IN THE ANGELS:

Important aspects of this belief are:

ALLAH has created angels. They are countless in number. They execute the orders of ALLAH and praise Him day and night. They strictly and completely obey the will of ALLAH. They do not do and cannot do anything by their own will or pleasure. There are four Archangels: Jibril, the messenger who brought messages from ALLAH to His prophets and apostles 2. Israfil who will sound the trumpet first for apocalypse then for Resurrection; 3: Mikail who arranges rain and sustenance to all the creatures and 4. Izrail, the angel of death. Two other important angels are Rizwan, the guardian of Paradise, and Malik, the superintendent of Hell, Munkar and Nakir are two angels who visit every person after his/her death to examine his/her belief during his/her lifetime. Two Recording Angels (Kiramin Katibin) constantly observe every person and note down all his/her good or bad words, deeds and acts to be produced on the Day of Judgment. The angels are created of light and are neither male nor female and have no personal requirements like food, drink, sex etc. It is a major sin to worship the angel(s) or make supplication to them.

     3. BELIEF IN THE SCRIPTURES:

Important aspects of this belief are:

ALLAH sent down his messengers from time to time in every part of the world through His apostles for the guidance of mankind. Those messages were inspired, revealed and recorded in sacred books. Some of such Books are Gospel, Pentateud and the Psalms. The last such Book is Qur'an. All the pre- Qur'anic divine Books have undergone so many alterations and corruptions that their existing editions and copies are not credible. Now the only inspired, revealed and sacred Book for the guidance of mankind is the Holy Qur'an, which has repealed all earlier Books. Allah's revelations have closed and no new divine Book is to be inspired or revealed. The Holy Qur'an has to be obeyed and followed by the whole mankind in all matters whatever.

     4. BELIEF IN APOSTLES:

Important matters of this belief are:

From time to time and in every part of the world ALLAH appointed some men as His prophets or apostles for the guidance of mankind. All prophets and apostles were human beings and slaves of ALLAH. The angel Jibril brought the message of ALLAH to His prophets and apostles. The number of apostles and prophets is 1,24000 (one lac twenty four thousand). Most important apostles are Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses [to whom Pentateuch or Torah was revealed], David [to whom the Psalms or Zabur was revealed], Jesus [to whom Gospel or Injil was revealed] and Muhammad (peace be upon him) [to whom Qur'an was revealed]. All prophets and apostles were men of unimpeachable integrity and moral character. Muhammad(PBUH) is the last, the seal of prophets/apostles. There will be no new prophet or apostle till eternity. Muhammad (PBUH) is to be obeyed and followed by the whole mankind for ever in all matters whatever. It is a major sin to worship prophet (s)/apostle (s)or make supplication to them.

     5. BELIEF IN THE LAST DAY:

Important aspect of this belief is that a day will come when all creatures in heaven and on earth will die or be annihilated. ALLAH alone will be existing on that day.

     6. BELIEF IN THE PREDESTINATION OF GOOD AND EVIL BY ALLAH:

Important aspect of this belief is that before creating any living being, substance, element, thing, object etc. etc. Allah determined a proportion or measure for him/her/it. Whatever happens in the universe is in accordance with the said predetermined proportion or measure.

     7. REBIRTH AFTER DEATH:

Important aspects of this belief are that after the Last Day ALLAH will bring all creatures to life again and all human beings who had ever existed on earth will also be brought to life and accounts of their words, deeds and acts on earth will be taken and reward for good and punishment for evil will be given.

The above-mentioned beliefs have been couched into the following two formulas and it is beneficial for a Muslim to reiterate the same frequently to strengthen his/her Iman (faith):

     ELABORATE FORMULA OF FAITH

I believe in ALLAH and His angels and His scriptures and His apostles and the Last Day and the predestination of good and evil by ALLAH and rebirth after death.

     CONCISE FORMULA OF FAITH

I believe in ALLAH as He is by His Names and by His Attributes and I accept all His commands.

     SEVEN BENEFICIAL FORMULAS

The most valuable in the sight of ALLAH are the words, deeds, and acts of a person whereby he/she proclaims the unity of ALLAH or praises or glorifies Him or seeks pardon from ALLAH for his/her sins. There are seven formulas the frequent recitation of which with sincerity and devotion preserves, promotes and strengthens one's Iman (Faith) and attracts the mercy and bounty of ALLAH.

     1. Formula of Excellence

     LAAA ILAAHA ILLALLAHU MUHAMMADUR RASULULLAH

There is no God but ALLAH and Muhammad is Allah's apostle.

     2. Formula of Testification

I testify that there is no God but ALLAH, the One, the Partnerless and I testify that Muhammad is His slave and apostle.

     3. Formula of Glorification

Glory be to ALLAH and praise be to ALLAH and there is no God but ALLAH and ALLAH is Most Great and there is no resistance and no power but with ALLAH, the High, the Vast.

     4. Formula of Monotheism

There is no God but ALLAH, the One, the Partnerless. His is the Sovereignty and His is the Praise. He gives life and causes death. The good is in His Hand and He is Powerful over all things.

     5. Formula of Praise

Glory be to ALLAH and Praise be for Him, Glory be to ALLAH, the High, the Vast and Praise be for Him. I seek pardon of ALLAH for all the sins and repent unto Him.

     6. Formula of Repelling Disbelief

O ALLAH! I seek Your refuge from associating anything as Your partner while I know it and I seek Your forgiveness for doing so while I don't know it. I repent for that and I dissociate myself from disbelief, polytheism and all the sins. I surrender and I believe and I say that there is no God but ALLAH and Muhammad is Allah's apostle.

     7. Formula of Pardon

I seek the pardon of ALLAH, my Lord, for all the sins, which I committed deliberately or mistakenly, secretly or openly and I repent unto Him for the sins, which I know, and for the sins, which I do not know. Verily, You are the Knower of the Unseens and the Forgiver of sins and the Cleaner of hearts and there is no resistance and no power but with ALLAH, the High, the Vast.

FOLLOW-UP TO IMAN: OBLIGATIONS

As soon as a person consciously subscribes to the Islamic Faith it becomes obligatory for him/her to perform strictly, punctually and regularly the devotional practices which have been mandated by Allah and performed by the holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his exalted companions (be Allah pleased with him) and all true Muslims thereafter up-to-date. Faith without practice is hollow and practice without faith is hypocrisy. The FUNDAMENTAL ISLAMIC DEVOTIONAL PRACTICES are four in number namely:

     1. PRAYER: SALAT

To worship Allah five times everyday at appointed times in the prescribed manner. For performing prayer it is obligatory to cleanse one's body in the prescribed manner from all pollution, filth and superfluities. These five prayer- services are:

     i) Morning Prayer (performed between dawn and sunrise)

ii) Noon Prayer (performed between the inclination of the sun towards the west and the time when the shadow of a person shall be the length of his own stature)

iii) Afternoon Prayer (between the expiration of the time for Noon Prayer and the time when the sun assumes a yellow appearance)

iv) Evening Prayer (between the sunset and the disappearance of the red appearance on the horizon) and

     v) Night Prayer (between the closing in of night and the beginning of dawn).

Besides these, there is one weekly compulsory congregational Juma prayer performed on every Friday in lieu of noon prayer. There are also two annual compulsory congregational Eid prayers performed after sunrise on the first day of the tenth month o the Islamic calendar(Eid-ul-Fitr) and tenth day of the twelfth month of the same calendar (Eid-ul Azha).

     2. POOR-DUE: ZAKAT

To give every year a prescribed portion out of one's such properties as money, gold, silver, merchandise, cattle, agricultural produce etc.

     3. FASTING: SAUM

Total abstinence from food, drink and cohabitation from dawn to dusk for one month in the ninth month of the Islamic calendar namely Ramazan.

     4. PILGRIMAGE: HAJJ

To visit the Kaba, the holy house at Mecca in Saudi Arabia, in the 12th month of the Islamic calendar once in one's life if one is possibly able to do it.

It is considered meritorious to perform additional prayers, besides the above- mentioned obligatory ones and to give more and more to the poor and the needy etc besides the annual payment of poor- due and to perform additional fasting for some days in every month and to perform additional pilgrimage from time to time.

CHANGE-OVER TO ISLAMIC LIFE-VIEW

Those who subscribe to the Islamic Faith and follow it up with the observance of the Islamic Devotional Practices are required to revise their views about the life of the world and about the purpose of their birth in this world to change them to make them compatible with the teachings of Islam. The important features of ISLAMIC LIFE-VIEW are the following:

Life on this earth is ephemeral. This earth itself is ephemeral and so are all things in it. The life after death will be eternal and endless. The pleasure of this world, and also the pains, have no significance in comparision to the pleasures and pains of the After-life. The never-ending pleasures of the After-life can be attained by living this life in perfect and complete obedience to Allah's commands on the pattern of the life of the holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his exalted companions (be Allah pleased with them). Allah's commands extend to whole gamut of a man's/woman's life and so in all his/her words, deeds and acts of omission and commission a person has to obey ALLAH in accordance with the teachings and instructions of the holy Prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him) and his exalted companions (be Allah pleased with them). Nobody has the liberty to live in his/her own way ignoring or violating Allah's command. True success lies in leading a righteous life so as to be entitled to enter into Paradise after death. The worst failure is to live for the fulfillment of one's inordinate desires which is sure to lead to the torment of Hell Fire after death.

The following verses, besides many others, of the holy Quran will help a great deal in developing a proper Islamic Life-view:

The life of this world is but an enjoyment of illusion. (3:185)

Know that the life of this world is only play, and idle talk, and pageantry, and boasting among you, and rivalry in respect of wealth and children. (57:20)

Beautified is this life of the world for those who disbelieve. (2:212)

Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him: So We make him hearing, knowing. Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. (76:33)

And He it is who created the heavens and the earth in six daysand His Throne was upon the water- that He might try you, which of you is best in conduct. (11:7)

Lo! We have placed all that is in the earth as an ornament thereof that We may try them: which of them is best in conduct…. (18:7)

Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the Sovereignty, and He has power over all things, Who has created death and life that He may try you, which of you is best in conduct….. (67:1,2)

This life of the world is but a pastime and a game.

Lo! The home of the Hereafter- that is LIFE, if they but knew. (29:64)

Naught is the life of the world save a pastime and a sport. Better far is the abode of the Hereafter for those who keep their duty (to Allah). Have you then no sense. (6:32)

The comfort of this world is scant, the Hereafter will be better for him who wards off (evil). (4:77)

Beautified for mankind is love of the joys (that come) from women and offspring, and stored up heaps of gold and silver, and horses branded (with their mark), and cattle and land. That is enjoyment of the life of the world. Allah! With him is a more excellent abode. But little is the enjoyment of the life of this world as compared to the Hereafter. (9:38)

The life of the world as compared to the Hereafter is but a brief passing enjoyment. (13:26)

That which you have here wastes away, and that which Allah has remains. (16:96)

No person knows what is kept hidden for them (i.e. true believers) of joy as a reward for what they used to do. (32:17)

Whoso is removed from the fire and is made to enter Paradise, he indeed is triumphant. (3:185)

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: "Allah said: I have prepared for my pious slaves things which have never been seen by an eye, nor heard by an ear, or (even) imagined by a human being. (Prophet's saying reported in Al- Bukhari)

THE PRESENT WORLD ORDER

Those who subscribe to the Islamic Faith, observe the Islamic Devotional Practices and have adopted the Islamic Life-view have a duty upon them to constantly think and discuss with like minded persons how to establish a truly Islamic Socio-Political Order in the world which may be conducive to the promotion and preservation of the Islamic Personality. The present socio-political order of the world is not only obstructive to the development of Islamic personality but also detrimental and destructive for the entire mankind for the life in this world as well as for the life Hereafter.

The basic features of the present socio-political world order are: pampered partisan people's sovereignty, deceptive democracy, suicidal secularism, licentious liberty, malignant modernism, corrupting consumerism, nefarious nationalism, cankerous culture, heady hedonism and a variety of devil-inspired "isms". The existing world order has divided the world into the powerful, privileged, veto-wielding, terrorist, aggressor, oppressor and killer states on the one hand, and the weak, unprivileged, veto-wailing, terrorized, invaded, oppressed and being-killed states on the other hand. It has produced man-eater rulers who take pleasure in bombing hospitals, educational institutions, places of worship etc killing children, women, innocent persons justifying the same as 'collateral damage'. The present order not only allows but encourages people to enjoy the apparent pleasures of the world according to one's own choice and desires without any religious, moral or social control. It has glamorized nudity, obscenity, promiscuity, pop music, soap operas, casinos, liquor bars, intoxication, drug addiction etc. It has popularized fashion shows, beauty contests, sexy advertisements, sleazy publications, indecency, immodesty et all. It has legalized same-sex marriages and encouraged gays and lesbians. It has promoted usury, interest, gambling, luxury, extravagance, pomp, show etc. It has spread night clubs, starred hotels, call girls, sex workers, blue films, models, actors, and actresses. It has produced turncoat husbands, truant wives, troublesome offspring, single parent children, uncared for parents. It has given erectile dysfunction, AIDS, HIV. It has brought about personal disquiet, family dissension, social discord and regional disputes. It has produced ridiculous debates and ludicrous competitions. It has produced persons who are morally corrupt, spiritually bankrupt and psychologically distraught. It has produced persons with exhausted bodies, empty minds and broken souls. Present world order's end-all and be-all is money, more money, still more money; luxury, more luxury, still more luxury; sex, more sex, still more sex.3/4 dressed women, ½ dressed women, ¼ dressed women, contours- exhibiting dressed women, transparently dressed women, zero dressed women and high pleasure saleswomen in streets, buses, trains, clubs, hotels, motels, halls, malls, here, there, everywhere! With such felling things around him, an ordinary fallible mortal falls, fails or finishes! The protagonists of the present world order are like Dr. Faustus who sold himself to Satan for the vain pleasures of twenty years.

ISLAMIC WORLD ORDER

On the other hand the Islamic socio-political world order creates a society in which every person is aware of and tries to fulfil the object and purpose of his/her creation and utilizes his/ her body, mind, spirit and soul in unison to remain physically healthy, mentally happy, psychologically satisfied and spiritually progressing.

Islamic polity and society have distinctive features. Muslims are strictly prohibited from borrowing, adopting or imitating any rule or conduct from any other society or polity. The holy Qur'an, the authentic reports and records of the words, deeds and acts of the holy prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his exalted companions (be Allah pleased with them) and the decrees and edicts of the learned Muslim jurists contain and provide comprehensive and complete guidance to every Muslim in every sphere of life. The socio- political system of Islam must be based on the said guiding principles. The most important basic features of Islamic sociopolitical system are as under:

     1. SUPREMACY OF ALLAH'S COMMANDS IN ALL MATTERS

In an Islamic State the government must be a government of ALLAH, for ALLAH, by ALLAH. In other words, in an Islamic government ALLAH must be recognized as the King or immediate Ruler and His Laws must be taken as the statute- book and the head of such government must act as the representative of ALLAH. As the commands of ALLAH cover all the spheres of a man's/woman's private and public, personal and social lives every act of omission and commission by a man/woman in a Muslim State must be in complete accordance with Allah's commands. In an Islamic socio- political system Allah's commands must prevail and be regarded as supreme having over- riding effects over any other command by whomever. The following verses of the Holy Quran illustrate:

And He is ALLAH: there is no God but He To Him be praise, at the first and at the last: For Him is the command, and to Him shall ye (all) be brought back. (Quran: 28:70)

Nor does He share His command with any person whatever. (Quran: 28: 27)

'Have we any say in the matter?' they ask. Say to them: All is in the hands of ALLAH' (Quran: 3: 154)

     2. MUHAMMAD (PEACE BE UPON HIM) AS THE ROLE MODEL

Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the greatest of all men and leaders who have ever existed or will ever exist on this earth. In his life he acted, at some times or the other as an ordinary person, as a trader, as a manager, as a husband, as a father, as a master, as an apostle, as a friend, as a warrior, as a peace- maker, as a judge etc etc. At sometime or the other in his life he was happy, unhappy, angry, shocked, grief- stricken, smiling, joking, ill, injured, tired, relaxed, sleeping, eating, drinking, walking etc. In every position and condition what he said or did and for any other position and condition what he said to be done is the best human conduct and behavior. Muhammad (peace be upon him) was richly furnished with natural endowments, beautiful in person, of a subtle, agreeable behavior, showing liberality to the poor, courtesy to every one, fortitude against his enemies and, above all, a high reverence for the name of ALLAH (GOD); severe against the perjurers, adulterers, murderers, slanderers, prodigal, covetous, false witness etc, a great preacher of patience, charity, mercy, beneficence, gratitude, honoring of parents and superiors and a great celebrator of the divine praises. All Muslims in an Islamic state particularly those at the helm of public affairs must esteem Muhammad (peace be upon him) as their role model and obey, follow and imitate him in faith and practice, words and deeds, dress and diet, manners and habits and each and every other matter. Following extracts from the Holy Quran illustrate:

"( O Muhammad) say: if you do love Allah, follow me, Allah will love you…"(3:31)

"We sent no Apostle save that he should be obeyed by Allah's will."(4:64)

"There hath come unto you a messenger (one) of yourselves, unto whom aught that ye are overburdened is grievous, full of concern for you, for the believers full of pity, merciful." (9:128). "We sent thee not save as a bringer of good tidings and a warner unto all mankind;…" (34:28)

     3. UNIVERSAL STATE AS AGAINST NATIONSTATES

In Islam the whole world is one unit as the kingdom of ALLAH and all the people inhabiting the world belong to one family being the children of Adam and slavers of ALLAH. The division of this world into nation- states and division of the people of the world into the nationals of particular nation- states is man-made and artificial. Islam creates a confraternity of its followers and its nationalism is one with internationalism. All believers in Islam are brothers irrespective of the part of the world to which they belong and they believe in ALLAH Who is the Lord of the whole world and they follow prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who is ALLAH'S messenger for the entire mankind and they seek guidance from the holy Quran which contains divine guidance for all human beings and their sacred Law is Universal Law. In Islamic socio- political system all the regions of the world which join it get mingled into one single state to be governed by one ruler with one law. Territorial and regional pride and prejudice have no place in Islam. Following extracts from the Holy Quran illustrate:

" Mankind was one single nation." (2: 13)

"O mankind! Be careful of your duty to your Lord Who created you from a single soul and from it created its mate and from them twain hath spread abroad a multitude of men and women". (4:1)

     4. ENJOINING THE RIGHT AND FORBIDDING THE WRONG

Islam has comprehensively defined the right conduct and has pointed out the wrong conduct in all matters in every sphere of life. In Islam all human activities have been divided into right and good, on the one hand, and wrong and evil, on the other hand. What is right and good has to be propagated and promoted for the creation of a healthy, progressive and truly welfare society. What is wrong and evil how to be eradicated to save the individual and the society from disaster and ruin. Islam has, therefore, made it compulsory for the state as well as for every individual and groups of individuals to incessantly enjoin the right and forbid the wrong. Following extracts from the Holy Quran illustrate:

"Ye are the best community that hath been raised up for mankind. Ye enjoin right conduct and forbid wrong;…" (3:110)

" Let there spring from you a nation who invite to goodness, and enjoin right conduct and forbid wrong. Such are they who are successful." (3:104)

     5. EQUALITY OF MANKIND

All men/women are the descendants of the same father and mother namely Adam and Eve and hence they have the same blood running in their veins. Their Creator also is One namely ALLAH. No person is superior to another on the ground of birth, family, race, tribe, colour, language, birthplace, region etc. Holy Quran declares:

" O mankind! Lo! We have created you from male and female, and have made you nations and tribes that ye may know one another. Lo! The noblest of you, in the sight of Allah, is the best in conduct. " (49:13)

In an Islamic polity the apparent difference between one person or group of persons and another person or group of persons is for the purpose of identity only and not a ground for superiority or inferiority. On the basis of their creation and birth all men/women are equal and be treated equally by an Islamic Govt.

     6. BROTHERHOOD OF MUSLIMS

Islam tries at creating a truly pious welfare society. In order to achieve this aim Islam creates a brotherhood of Muslims in order that they live like brothers and co- operate with each other in enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong.

     The Holy Quran proclaims:

"For you (Muslims) were enemies (before Islam) and He joined your hearts in love, so that by His Grace you became brethren:" (3: 103)

"Verily this Ummah of yours is a single Ummah (brotherhood) (21: 92)

"The Believers are but a single Brotherhood." (49: 10)

Thus in an Islamic state the government must always be careful and take effective steps to promote brotherhood among Muslims.

     7. REASONABLE RESTRICTIONS ON THE INTERMINGLING AND FREE SOCIETY OF ADULT MEN AND WOMEN AND ADOLESECENT BOYS AND GIRLS

     Holy Quran declares:

Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and be modest…. And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and be modest, and to display of their adornment only that which is apparent and to draw their veils over their bosoms…… (24:30-31)

"O Prophet! Tell thy wives and thy daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks close round them…" (33 59)

     The holy Prophet (PBUH) says:

     i) "I have left behind me no more hurtful trial for men than women."

ii)"No man is apart with a strange woman, but Satan is the third among them."

iii)"Take care that no man sit alone with a woman, unless she be his near relative."

     8. GUIDELINES FOR MALE AND FEMALE DRESSES AT PUBLIC PLACES

     Holy Quran declares:

"O Children of Adam! We have bestowed raiment upon you to cover your private parts and as an adornment, and the raiment of righteousness, that is better." (7:26)

     The holy Prophet (PBUH) says:

"I will not be a witness for women who, although clothed, are yet naked, seducing and being seduced……"

"A woman should not wear a man's clothing nor a man woman's. Cursed are men who imitate women and women who imitate men."

     9. PROBIHITION OF EXOTIC, SEDUCTIVE AND PORNOGRAPHIC ACTS, DEEDS, SONGS, MUSIC AND LITRATURE AND OTHER MATERIALS AND SOURCES

     Holy Quran declares:

"…Ye draw not nigh to lewd things whether open or concealed…."(6:151)

Say: My Lord forbiddeth only indecencies, such of them as are apparent and such as are within, and sin…" (7:33)

     Holy Prophet (PBUH) says,

     i) "Let no man look upon the hidden parts of a man, nor a woman upon the hidden parts of a woman…."

     ii) "Guard yourselves from immodesty…."

     10. PROHIBITION OF PRODUCTION, STORAGE, SALE, PURCHASE AND USE OF ALL INTOXICANTS

     Holy Quran declares,

"O you who believe! Intoxicants and… are abominations of Satan's handiwork. So avoid them in order that you may be successful." (2:90)

     Holy Prophet (PBUH) says:

"An intoxicant is the sum of all sins."

     11. PROBIHITION OF ALL FORMS OF GAMBLING AND GAMES OF CHANCE

     Holy Quran declares,

"O you who believe! gambling and … are abominations of Satan's handwork." So avoid them in order that you may be successful. (2:90)

"It is not lawful for the Muslim to seek relaxation and recreation in gambling, nor is it lawful for him to acquire money through it. (Yusuf Al-Qaradawi in Al-Halal wal-Halal Fil Islam).

     12. PROBIHITION OF ALL FORMS OF USURIOUS AND INTEREST-TAKINGAND INTEREST-GIVING TRANSACTIONS

     Holy Quran declares,

"O ye who believe! Devour not usury, doubling and quadrupling (the sum lent). Observe your duty to Allah that ye may be successful." (3:130)

     Holy Prophet (PBUH) says:

Cursed is the taker of usury and the giver of it, and the writer of it, and the witness to it, they were all equal.

     13. SERVE RESTRICTIONS ON THE MEANS AND SOURCES OF INCOME AND OBJECTS AND PURPOSE OF EXPENDITURE

     Holy Quran declares,

"O you who believe! Do not consume your property among yourselves wrongfully, but let there be trade by mutual consent… (4:29)

"… be not prodigal. Lo! He loveth not the prodigals. (7:31)

The general rule in regard to earning to living is that Islam does not permit its followers to earn money in any way they like, rather it differentiates between lawful and unlawful methods based on the criterion of the overall well-being of the society. (Yusuf Al-Qaradavi in Al-Halal wal-Haram Fil Islam)

The same rule holds good in respect of expenditure also.

     14. PROHIBITION OF SEX WITHOUT REGULAR MARRIAGE

     Holy Quran declares:

"… marry of the women whom you like two, or three or four, and if you fear that you cannot do justice then one…."(4:3)

"… and live with them (married wives) in honour, not in fornication, nor taking them as girl-friends…" (5:5)

"And come not near unto adultery. Lo! It is an abomination and an evil way." (17:32)

"The adulterer and the adultress, scourge ye each one of them (with a hundred strips.)" (24:2)

     15. PROHIBITION OF ALL DEEDS, ACTS AND THINGS WHICH MILITATE AGAINST THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A PHYSICALLY, MENTALLY , MORALLY AND SPIRITUALLY HEALTHY SOCIETY

ISLAMIC CHARACTER

The Fundamentalist Muslims must always bear in mind that in the past their predecessors had been successful in achieving their divine mission and in the present as well as in future they can also be successful in achieving their divine mission only on the strength of their actual noticeable moral superiority over their adversaries. In the holy Quran and also in the sayings of the holy Prophet success and victory have been promised and assured to the believers who possess a well-defined Islamic character. Every Fundamentalist Muslim must therefore try his/her best to develop Islamic conduct and be acknowledged as morally and spiritually superior to the protagonists of the existing world order so that they may be victorious to replace the present devilish world order with the divine Islamic socio-political order. Some important aspects of Islamic character and conduct as mentioned in the holy Quran and sayings of the holy Prophet (PBUH) are as under:

     1. KINDNESS TO PARENTS

"And we have enjoined upon man concerning his parents------ his mother beareth him in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years----- give thanks unto Me and unto thy parents….Consort with them in the world kindly, and follow the path of him who repenteth unto Me". (Quran: 31:14-15). "Thy Lord hath decreed, that ye worship none save Him, and (that ye show) kindness to parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age with thee, say not "Fie" unto them nor repulse them, but speak unto them a gracious word. And lower unto them thy wing of submission through mercy and say: My Lord! Have mercy on them both as they did care for me when I was little." (Quran: 17:23-24). "The pleasure of Allah is in the pleasure of the parent and the displeasure of Allah is in the displeasure of the parent." (saying of the holy Prophet (PBUH).

     2. GOODNESS TO SPOUSE

"They (wives) are raiment for you and ye are raiment for them." (Quran 2:187)

"And they (women) have rights similar to those (of men) over them in kindness, and men are a degree above them. Allah is Mighty, Wise."(Quran: 2:228). i)And enjoin upon one another goodness towards women, verily, they are married to you, ye have no power over them at all, unless they come in for a flagrant filthy action, but if they be devoted to you, then seek no way against them. And, verily, ye have right over your women and your women have rights over you." ii. "The best of you is he who is the best among you to his wife." iii. "What rights has a woman over her husband?. That he feed her when he eats himself and that he clothe her when he clothes himself, and not strike her upon the face, nor revile her, nor leave her alone unless in her own house." iv. What is the best woman?" She who gladdens her husband when he looks up to her, and obeys him when he tells her anything, and who does not fail him in regard to herself or his riches so as to displease him."(Sayings of the holy Prophet (PBUH)

     3. MERCY TO CHILDREN

" O ye who believe! Ward off from yourselves and your families a Fire whereof the fuel is men and stones." (Quran:66:6). i."Honour your children and teach them manners."

ii. "The father has duties towards children just as children have duties towards father." iii. "Spend your better possessions on your children." iv."Give your children good names".v. "Educate your children." vi. "Arrange your adult children's marriage." (Sayings of the holy Prophet PBUH)

     4. REGARD FOR RELATIONSHIP

"…Be good to parents and the kindred…" (Quran 2:83). "..Say: That which ye spend for good (must go) to parents and near kindred…" (Quran:2:215). i. "Ties of blood are a branch of the (mercy of the) Merciful (Allah); and Allah says: Whoso doth regard thee, him will I regard, and whoso doth cut thee asunder, him will I cut asunder." ii. Whoso desires for himself an increase of provision and a long term (of life), let him regard all ties of blood." iii. He does not regard (the ties of blood) who does corresponding (acts of goodness), but he does indeed regard who regards (the ties) when his ties are disregarded."(Sayings of the holy Prophet (PBUH).

     5. CONCERN FOR THE NEIGHBOURS

"(Show) Kindness…..unto the neighbour who is of kin and the neighbour who is not of kin….."(Quran: 4:36). i. Whoso believes in Allah and the Last day…let him be good to his neighbours." ii. ".. be good to thy neighbour, and thou shall become a believer." iii." He is not a believer who eats his fill while his neighbour lies hungry by his side ." iv." No one (really believes until his neighbours are safe from his calamities)." (Sayings of the holy Prophet (PBUH).

     6. GOODWILL FOR MUSLIMS

"The believers are naught else than brothers. Therefore make peace between your brethren and observe your duty to Allah that haply ye may obtain mercy."(Quran: 49: 10) "A Muslim is brother to a Muslim: he wrongs him not, nor gives him over; and whoso shall remove the wants of a brother Allah will remove his wants; and whoso relieves a Muslim from distress, Allah will relieve him from the distress of the Day of Resurrection and whoso hides the fault of a Muslim, Allah will hide his faults on the Day of Resurrection; and whoso walks with a wronged person, so as to establish him in his rights, Allah will establish his feet on the (thin and sharp) bridgeway on the Day of Resurrection when (other) men's feet shall stumble."(Saying of the holy Prophet (PBUH).

     7. HELP TO THE POOR, THE NEEDY

"(Show) kindness unto…orphans, and the needy…. And the fellow-traveller, and the wayfarer and (the slaves) whom your right hands possess." (Quran:4:36)

     i. "He who endeavours to (relieve) the needy, the desolate, and the poor, is as one who endeavours in the service of Allah…"ii. Feed the hungry, visit the sick, and free the captive."iii. "He who comes to help the aggrieved, Allah writes down for him three and seventy acts of pardon, one of which makes amends for all his affairs, and two and seventy (go) to make for him degrees (of excellence) on the Day of Resurrection." (Sayings of the holy Prophet (PBUH).

     8. STRUGGLE AGAINST OPPRESSION

" And what is wrong with you that you fight not for the cause of Allah and for those weak, ill-treated, and oppressed among men, women and children, whose cry is :"Our Lord' Rescue us from this town whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from You a protector and raise for us from You a helper'. Those who believe fight for the cause of Allah, and those who disbelieve, fight for the cause of the devil. So fight you against the supporters of the devil. Lo! the devil's strategy is ever weak!." (Quran: 4-75-76). "Sanction is given unto those who fight because they have been wronged, and Allah is indeed able to give them victory."(Quran:22:39). "Fighting is ordained for you, though it is hateful unto you; but it may happen that ye hate a thing which is good for you, and it may happen that ye love a thing which is bad for you. Allah knoweth; ye know not." (Quran:2:216)

     9. ZERO TOLERANCE FOR WRONG

1." Whoso of you sees wrong let him undo it with his hand; and if he cannot (do it) then let him speak (against it) with his tongue; and if he cannot (do this either), then (let him abhor it) with his heart--- and this is least of faith". ii. "The best of Jihad (fighting) is of him who speaks a just word before a tyrannical authority".iii. "When people see the wrong doer and do not seize him by the hand, Allah would well nigh chastise them all alike…." "Help thy brother, the wrong doing and the wronged", said the Prophet." I will help him, said one, when he is wronged, but how can I help him when he is doing wrong?' Hinder him from doing wrong", said the Prophet," and verily that is helping him." (Quran:42:40). i.A man came to the Prophet and said,' O Prophet of Allah! How many times shall I forgive a servant?' The Prophet kept silent. The man repeated the question thrice. "Forgive thy servant seventy times every day, said the Prophet. ii. "My Lord has bidden me do nine things; the fear of Allah in secret and in public, a just word amidst anger and pleasure; and a (middle) way in poverty and affluence; and that I perform my relative duties to him who cuts off all ties with me; and give to him who denies me' and forgive him who wrongs me; and that my silence be for reflection, and my speaking be for a remembrance (of Allah); and my eye (sight) be to take example; and that I bid justice." iii. "Wealth decreases not by almsgiving; and Allah may increase His servant in might by forgiveness and no servant (of Allah) shows humility for the sake of Allah, but Allah also exalts him." (Sayings of the holy Prophet (PBUH).

ISLAMIC TEMPERAMENT

The teachings of the holy Quran and the holy Prophet guide Fundamentalist Muslims to do certain things as also not to do certain things in the conduct of their day to day affairs and in reacting to or tackling various situations and circumstances. Some important traits of Fundamentalist Muslims' temperament are as under:

     DO's

"…those who control their wrath and are forgiving toward mankind" (Quran 3:134)

"Allah commandeth you that ye restore deposits to their owners, and if ye judge between mankind, that ye judge justly." (Quran 4:58). "Successful indeed are the believers…. who guard their modesty"….. (Quran 23:5)... "do good .Lo! Allah loveth the beneficent." (Quran 12:95), "…. Persevere whatever may befall thee"…(Quran 21:17). "Be modest in thy bearing and subdue thy voice..(Quran 31:19)… "men who speak the truth and women who speak the truth….men who are humble and women who are humble and men who give alms and women who give alms….Allah hath prepared for them forgiveness and a vast reward." (Quran 13:35)…. "overcome evil with good…" (13:22). And if one party of them doeth wrong to the other, fight ye that which doeth wrong till it return unto the ordinance of Allah; then, if it return, make peace between them justly and equitably .Lo! Allah loveth the equitable" (Quran 49:9). "… in whose wealth there is a right acknowledged for the beggar and the destitute; who preserve their chastity…who stand by their testimony…(Quran :70:24,25,29,33). ACQUIRING KNOWLEDGE OF HALAL AND HARAM

In order to build and maintain Islamic character and temperament it is incumbent upon every Fundamentalist Muslim to keep himself/herself within the limits created by Allah in the matter of eating, drinking , dressing ,earning, spending and fulfilling other requirements of life. Sticking to HALAL (permitted by Allah) helps spiritually in the development of Islamic character whereas recourse to HARAM (Prohibited by Allah) harms spiritually in building or maintaining Islamic character. The Fundamentalist Muslims must therefore acquire necessary knowledge of HALAL and HARAM. The holy Prophet (peace be on him) has said: i. "The halal is that which Allah has made lawful in His Book and the haram is that which he has forbidden and that concerning which He is silent, He has permitted as a favour to you." ii. "Allah has prescribed certain obligations for you, so do not neglect them; He has defined certain limits, so do not transgress them; He has prohibited certain things, so do not do them; and He has kept silent concerning other things out of mercy for you and not because of forgetfulness, so do not ask question concerning them."

     SEEKING ALLAH'S PROTECTION

To become a Fundamentalist Muslim and remain so all through life is a very very difficult task. The 'self', surroundings and Satan are three enemies which consistently tempt to sin and transgression and, without the help of Almighty Allah, it is not within the power of any human being to resist the temptation of "self", surroundings and Satan. The Fundamentalist Muslims must therefore try to deserve Allah's help, protection and refuge by doing the following acts:

     1. FREQUENT RECITATION OF ALLAH'S GLORY, PRAISE, ONENESS AND GREATNESS (Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illallah,AllahoAkbar)

"O ye who believe! Remember Allah with much remembrance. And glorify Him morning and evening. (Quran 33:41-42). "Remember the name of thy Lord at morn and evening." (Quran:76:25). ".. men of understanding, such as remember Allah standing , sitting and reclining and consider the creation of the heavens and the earth, and (say): Our Lord! Thou createst not this in vain. Glory be to Thee! Preserve us from the doom of Fire."(Quran: 3:191). "Remember thy Lord within thyself humbly and with awe, below thy breath, at morn and evening .And be thou not of the neglectful." (Quran:7:205). "Your tongue should always remain busy and fresh with the remembrance of Allah." (Saying of the holy Prophet PBUH).

     2. REGULAR RECITATION, READING,UNDERSTANDING AND PONDERING OVER THE HOLY QURAN"

(Say): I (Muhammad) am only commanded to.. recite the Quran: (Quran:27:91-92). O mankind ! There has come unto you an exhortation (Quran) from your Lord, a balm for that which is in the breasts, a guidance and mercy for believers." (Quran :10:57). "Say: The holy spirit (jibril) hath revealed it from thy Lord with truth, that it may strengthen those who believe and as guidance and good tidings for Muslims. (Quran:16:102). "Lo! Those who read the Scripture of Allah, and establish worship, and spend of that which we have bestowed on them secretly and openly, that look forward to imperishable gain."(Quran:35:29). i. "Verily, you cannot turn to Allah with anything better than that which has come forth from Him namely Quran." ii. "The Prophet said: "Verily, for Allah some from mankind are (like) relations". "Who are they, it was asked. The Prophet replied: "the people of Quran, they are (like) relations of Allah and bigwigs. (Sayings of the holy Prophet (PBUH).

     3. REPENTANCE FOR FAILURE /WEAKNESS IN SUBMISSION

"Allah loves those who turn to Him (in repentance)." (Quran:2:222). "O ye who believe! Turn unto Allah in sincere repentance. It may be that your Lord will remit from you your evil deeds and bring you into Gardens underneath which rivers flow, on the day when Allah will not abase the Prophet and those who believe with him."(Quran:66:8). "And vie with one another for forgiveness from your Lord."(Quran 3:133). "Allah is seer of His bondmen; those who pray for pardon in the watches of the night. (Quran:3:17). "And seek forgiveness o f A l lah . L o ! A l l a h i s f o r g i v i n g merciful."(Quran:74:26). "Whosoever binds himself to seeking (Allah's) forgiveness, Allah appoints for him way out of all distress, and relief from all griefs and provides for him from whence he has no expectation."(Saying of the holy Prophet (PBUH).

     4. INVOCATION OF ALLAH'S BLESSINGS ON THE HOLY PROPHET (PEACE BE UPON HIM)

"There hath come unto you a messenger (Muhammad), (one) of yourselves, unto whom aught that ye are overburdened is grievous, full of concern for you, for the believers full of pity, merciful."(Quran:9:128). "We sent thee not (O Muhammad) but as a Mercy for the worlds."(Quran:21:107). "Lo! Allah and His angles shower blessings on the Prophet. O ye who believe! Ask blessings on him and salute him with a worthy salutation." (Quran:33:56). i. "When any of my community bless me, Allah and His angels bless them ten times for doing so."ii. The nearest people to me on the Day of Resurrection will be those who sought the most Allah's blessings for me." (Sayings of the holy Prophet (PBUH).

     5. SUPPLICATIONS (DU'A')

"I respond to the supplications of the supplicant when he calls on Me." (Quran:2:186)

"And your Lord has said: "Call upon Me and I shall answer you." (Quran:40:60). "Caution will not be of any benefit against predestination, but supplication benefits (matter) that have occurred and that are (yet) to occur. And indeed, supplication meets with a calamity, and fights it until the Day of Judgment.(Saying of the holy ProphetPBUH). "So the du'a (supplication) is the weapon of the believer, by which he can fight against any and every tyrant and oppressor." (Abu Ammar Yasir Qadhi in "Addua: Salahul Mumin).

     6. DISSOCIATION FROM INNOVATIONS (BIDAT)

"This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favour unto you, and have chosen for you as religion AL-ISLAM ."(Quran:5:3). "… And beware of new things! For verily, all new things (in religion) are an innovation and all innovation (in religion) is error." ii. Whoso introduces into this our (religion) affair what is not of it, is bad." (Sayings of the holy Prophet (PBUH).

     7. STEADFASTNESS AND PERSEVEARANCE

"O ye who believe! Seek help in steadfastness and prayer. Lo! Allah is with the steadfast… And surely We shall try you with something of fear and hunger, and loss of wealth and lives and crops, but give glad tidings to the steadfast who say, when a misfortune striketh them: Lo! we are Allah's and lo! unto Him we are returning." (Quran:2:153,155,156). "Do men imagine that they will be left (at ease) because they say, we believe, and will not be tested with affliction: Lo! We tested those before you. Thus Allah knoweth those who are sincere , and knoweth those who feign." (Quran:29:2.3). "Therefore stand firm as thou art commanded, thou and those who with thee turn (unto Allah), and transgress not: for He seeth well all that ye do." Lo! those who say: "Our Lord is Allah, and afterward are steadfast, the angels descend upon them, saying: Fear not nor grieve, but hear good tidings of the Paradise which ye are promised. We are your protecting friends in the life of the world and in the Hereafter…" (Quran:41:30-31).

8 . REMEMBERING DEATH AND EVENTS RELATIVE THERETO

The temptations of worldly life, of wealth, wine and women, of name and fame, of power and authority, of ease and comfort, of fun and frolic, of dance and music, of lust and luxury are strong and man is weak. How to resist the temptations then? By remembering death, the inevitable visitor-at-will and destroyer of worldly life and harbinger of accountability, and events following death.

     i. DEATH

The holy Prophet (PBUH) was asked which believer was the best ? 'The best of them in character' was the reply.' 'Which believer was the most intelligent," they asked. 'He who most frequently remembered death, and prepared himself best for the same ere it alighted upon him', said the Prophet. . At the time of death a true Muslim sees his/her place in Paradise and dies an easy death whereas a sinner sees his/her place in Hell and dies a torturous death.

     ii.GRAVE

"Visit the graves, for verily, these will make you indifferent to the world and remind you of the Hereafter." "Verily, the grave is the first stage of the (many) stages of Hereafter." The grave is either a garden of Paradise (for true Muslims) or a pit of Fire (for sinners)." (Sayings of the holy Prophet (PBUH).

iii. QUESTIONS BY MUNKAR AND NAKIR

Munkar and Nakir are two angels, who visit every person in his/her grave, and who, immediately after the return of the funeral party from the burial, examine the dead person by asking the questions: Who is your Lord? What is your religion? Who is your Prophet? He/she who gives the correct answer that my Lord is Allah, my religion is Islam and my Prophet is Muhammad is saved from the torment and the grave becomes a garden of Paradise for him/her. Only a true Muslim will be able to give the correct answer. The sinner will fail to give the correct answer and the grave will become a pit of Fire for him/her.

     iv. APOCALYPSE

"The Trumpet will be sounded, when all that are in the heavens and on earth will swoon except such as please Allah (to exempt). (Quran:39:68). And when the Trumpet shall sound one blast and the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, then on that day will the Event befall." (Quran:69:13-15). "And when the Trumpet is blown there will be no kinship among them that day, nor will they ask of one other." (Quran:23:101). "How can I enjoy happiness when the angel of Trumpet is awaiting attentively turning his forehead to one side to hear the order to blow the Trumpet."(Saying of the holy Prophet (PBUH).

     V. RESURRECTION

".. Then will a second one (blow of Trumpet) be sounded, when, behold, they will be standing and looking on!" (Quran: 39:68). "Hath not man seen that we have created him from a drop of seed? Yet lo! he is an open opponent. And has coined for us a similitude, and has forgotten the fact of creation, saying : Who will revive these bones when they have rotted away? He will revive them who produced them at the first for He is Knower of every creation." (Quran 36:76-78)

     vi. WEIGHING OF WORKS

"We shall set up a Balance of justice for the Day of Resurrection. So that no soul is wronged in aught. Though it be of the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it. We suffice for reckoners. (Quran:21:47)." "That day mankind will issue forth in scattered groups to be shown their deeds. And whoso doeth good an atom's weight will see it then, and whoso doeth ill an atom's weight will see it then." (Quran:99:6-8). "Then, as for him whose scales are heavy (with good works), he will live a pleasant life. But as for him whose scales are light (due to lack of good works), the Bereft and Hungry One will be his mother. Ah, what will convey unto thee what she is---- Raging Fire." (Quran:101:6-11). The duration of the day of resurrection will be fifty thousand years according to worldly calculation which will pass off quickly and pleasantly for the righteous but will be tormenting and passing off slowly for the sinner.

vii. CROSSING OF THE BRIDGE OVER HELL

There is a bridge over Hell. It is as thin as hair and as sharp as the blade of a sword and as long as the journey of forty years. Everybody will have to cross the said bridge. According to the degree of their worldly piety, righteousness and good works, some will cross the Bridge like lightning, some like blowing wind, some like running horses, some will walk on foot and some will walk on their breasts. A large number will fall down into the Fire.

viii. INTERCESSION AND POND OF ABUNDANCE

The holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him ) will be the only person who will be in a position on the Day of Resurrection to intercede with Allah for the forgiveness of Allah and everybody will be in dire need of his intercession and of drinking water from his pond of abundance to quench his/her killing thirst and of his help to save him/her from the teeming torments and tortures of that day.

     Ix. PARADISE

"No soul knoweth what is kept hid for them of joy, as a reward for what they used to do." (Quran:32:17). "… Garden of Immortality which is promised unto those who ward off (evil). It will be their reward and journey's end. Therein abiding, they have all that they desire. It is for thy Lord a promise that must be fulfilled ." (Quran:25:15-16). " A similitude of the Garden which those who keep their duty (to Allah) are promised: There are rivers of water unpolluted, and rivers of milk whereof the flavour changeth not, and rivers of wine delicious to the drinkers , and rivers of clear-run honey;' therein for them is every kind of fruit, with pardon from their Lord ."(Quran:47:15) "Therein are those of modest gaze, whom neither man nor jinni will have touched before them,….(in beauty) like the jacynth and the coral-stone." (Quran:55:56,58).

     x. HELL

Lo! Hell lurketh in ambush, a home for the rebellious. They will abide therein for ages. Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink save boiling water and a paralysing cold. Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; they called our revelations false with strong denial. Everything have we recorded in a Book. So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment." (Quran:78:21-30). "Lo! the guilty are immortal in Hell's torment. It is not relaxed for them and they despair therein. We wronged them not, but they it was who did the wrong." (Quran:43-74-76).

PRESENT WORLD SCENARIO VIS-À-VIS ISLAM AND MUSLIMS

The United States of America , the Perpetual Perpetrator of Global Terror has, with all the arrogance and rogueness for which it is known, launched for the protection and security of the maliciously and dishonestly created and vetoically and viciously maintained unnatural Zionist State of Israel, a full fledged, most ferocious, barbaric, inhuman, occupationist war against Islam and Muslims under the deceptive misnomer of 'War against terrorism' killing ever increasing large number of innocent children, women, sick and diabled persons and destroying places of worship, hospitals, schools, godowns of foodgrain, residential houses, agricultural fields justifying the same as 'collateral damage' and invading and occupying sovereign states as 'preemptive strikes' and enthroning its stooges as rulers there and protecting them with military might claiming it to be an 'act of democracy.' And in the present mad mad mad world order all the acts of genocidal and civilizational destruction, devastation, disruption and depredation are being hailed as acts for peace and democracy! Most non-Muslim countries are willingly and gleefully assisting the USA in its crimes against humanity with mouth, men and materials. Those non-Muslim countries which are not so active supporters are lending their (im)moral support in one way or other. The rulers of several Muslim countries are co-operating with America against Islam and Muslims for their respective personal and selfish reasons. The rulers of other Muslim countries are mute spectators. The net result is that Muslims are being maimed and killed and Islam is being maligned and suppressed.

HISTORY OF ISLAM AND MUSLIMS

All through their history Islam and Muslims have been growing and becoming more and more strong in similar circumstances . The holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) rose as a single man and called upon the people to surrender to ALLAH, the one and only GOD, who has no son, no equal, no partner and none else besides Him is worthy of being worshipped . He was called a madman, a sorcerer, a poet .He was hooted, humiliated and stoned. However people low as well as high started following him in ones, twos, threes. He and his small group of followers were boycotted, imprisoned and forced to migrate from Mecca and, almost all of them, numbering around one hundred, finally migrated to Yathrib (now Medina) where they were welcomed and given protection by a good number of local people who had embraced Islam. The Meccans and their allies and supporters did not like it and wanted to wipe them out completely. In these circumstances Muslims had to fight several several unequal wars in which they were highly inferior to their enemies in terms of men and materials. They however always won and grew in number and strength by the grace and help of Allah and by their most attractive and influential moral and spiritual teachings.

AMERICA AND ITS ALLIES SURE TO SURRENDER

America and its allies appear to be mighty and militarily succeeding against Islam and Muslims. In fact, what they are achieving are dastardly acts of genocide, human rights abuses, blashphemy, universally acknowledged worst sins and crimes and all for a wrong and false cause. These heinous acts exhibit their moral bankruptcy and spiritual vacuum. For similar sins and crimes mighty nations have fallen in the past and, under the weight of their own sins and crimes , America and its allies will fall to pieces very soon. They are going through a period of divine respite which is about to be over. The divine noose is already there round the necks of America and its allies and it will be tightened sooner than later and they will be no more. God's mill grinds slow but sure. American Presidents have been by tradition saddists and the then American President will laugh when America will burn just as Nero laughed when Rome burnt. The Fundamentalist Muslims must keep their one eye on their history and the other eye on the promise of Allah and His holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and must firmly believe that history will repeat itself and the promise of Allah will be fulfilled.

ALLAH'S PROMISE OF HELP AND VICTORY

"Then shall We save Our messengers and believers, in like manner (as of old). It is incumbent upon Us to save believers." (Quran:10:104)."To help believers is incumbent upon Us,"(Quran:30:47). "Faint not nor grieve, for ye will overcome them if ye are (indeed) believers." (Quran:31:139)."Allah hath promised such of you as believe and do good works that He will surely make them to succeed (the present rulers) in the earth even as He caused those who were before them to succeed (others)." (Quran:24:55). "He it is Who hath sent His messenger with the guidance and the Religion of Truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religion…"(Quran:9:33,48:28,61:9)

WHEN WILL ALLAH'S HELP COME?

The forces fighting for Islam and Muslims without any haven or weapon worth the name are in place and intact. This is despite the destructive and devastating state-of-the-art military attacks by America and its allies and stooges being carried out ceaselessly and relentlessly three-hundred-and-sixty-five days a year and twentyfour hours a day. In these circumstances, the subsisting and ever increasing active and operational existence of the forces of Islam and Muslims is indeed the help of Allah! Praise be to Allah. America and its allies and stooges are under constant fear of Islam and Muslims and have increased manifold their arrangements and preparations for intelligence and security and the alarm bells are frequently ringing in their cities and on their airports and they are developing psychological and other types of diseases due to constant fear. The forces of Islam and Muslims have no fear of anybody or anything except the fear of Allah. This is indeed the help of Allah! Praise be to Allah. America and its allies and stooges are facing secret criticism from their own rank and open criticism from their own countrymen for their unjustifiable crimes against Islam and Muslims. The forces of Islam and Muslims are receiving new converts from the ranks of their adversaries as well as from their own transgressors. This is indeed the help of Allah! Praise be to Allah. And the help of Allah is there in many many many more ways which ordinary mortals cannot discern. One requires an inner spiritual eye to discern the true nature of Allah's help. Allah is Great. Praise be to Allah.

DIVINE WARNINGS

The American administration has shut its eyes to the writings on the wall. 9/11 was a divine warning to America that if it does not renounce its terrorism, violence, oppression and injustice against Islam and Muslims its intelligence agencies and security forces will fail to save it from destruction. The ever growing number and strength of the invisible forces of Islam and Muslims is a warning to America that its misuse of weapons of mass destruction cannot crush the forces of Islam and Muslims. The pitiable failure of the American stooges at the helm of affairs in several Muslim countries to mobilize the masses in favour of America against Islam and Muslims is a warning that rule by stooges is an exercise in futility. There are warnings and warnings but the American administration fails to take heed and is treading the path of its final defeat and surrender alongwith its allies and stooges.

FATE OF FUNDAMENTALIST MUSLIMS

As for the Fundamentalist Muslims, they are successful either way- if they die they go straightway to Paradise to enjoy an eternal life of peace and pleasure, and if they are victorious they become Allah's chosen slaves on the earth to glorify Him, praise Him, declare His Oneness and Greatness and establish His Rule in the world.

     HOLY QURAN DECLARES

"Verily, His (Allah's) command, when He intendeth a thing is only that He saith unto it: Be! And it is." (36:81)

     HOLY PROPHET (PBUH) DECLARES

"No house or hut will be left on the face of the earth where Allah will not cause the word of Islam to enter with exalting exaltation or abasing abasement and if Allah, the Most Powerful and High, will exalt them He will make them its followers or He will abase them and will make them subservient unto them."
